Professional
courses/training
Applying GIS to Defining and Solving Public Health Problems
Do Epi is a series of educational studies and computer exercises designed to teach both
epidemiology and the use of Epi Info. An instructor's module is included.
Mapping
for Health Care Professionals using ArcView GIS This
six-module course shows how ArcView GIS can be used for epidemiology and public health
monitoring and to map public health indicators, identify disease clusters, and explore the
spatial distribution of disease and health care facilities. The first module of this course is FREE. (offered by ESRI virtual Campus)

Software
BodyViewer
mapping software for use in the field of health. Provided by GeoHealth.
EpiAnalyst
Extension for ArcView GIS is a tool and resource
kit for spatial-epidemiologic research. The extension contains spatial cluster analysis
software from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Agency for Toxic Substances and
Disease Registry (ATSDR).
Epi
Info 2000 epidemiologists and other public health
and medical professionals can rapidly develop a questionnaire or form, customize the data
entry process, and enter and analyze data. Epidemiologic statistics, tables, graphs,
and maps are produced with simple commands such as READ, FREQ, LIST, TABLES, GRAPH, and
MAP.
Epi Info 6 allows rapid setup of new entry forms and
data files, easily customized data entry, and many data management and analysis tech.
Epi Map 2 displays counts or rates on geographic
maps supplied or drawn on the screen. Colors, shading, dots, or noncontiguous cartograms
can be used to show any type of numeric data related to map boundaries.
HealthMapper : is a database management and mapping system that has been
developed to support planning and decision-making at both macro and micro levels. The
HealthMapper simplifies the collection, storage, retrieval, management and analysis of
public health data. Moreover it simplifies the use of geographic information systems and
mapping and provides a user-friendly interface to spatial and statistical analyses of
public health data.
HealthMap joint WHO/UNICEF Programme. The Programme was initially created in
1993 to establish a GIS to support management and monitoring of the Guinea Worm
Eradication Programme.
PatientAccess
mapping software for use in the field of health.

ResearchAnalyst combines the advanced mapping functionality of ArcView® GIS with
the statistical power of S-PLUS®. The ResearchAnalyst allows you to enhance your GIS data
analysis with S-PLUS graphics and statistics.
SaTScan software analyses spatial, temporal and space-time point data using
the spatial, temporal, or space-time scan statistic. The program may also be used for
similar problems in other areas such as biology, zoology, ecology, archeology, history,
economics, geography, geology, and astronomy.
